While watching the Basketball Hall of Fame inductions last week, Dick Vitale had a great speech. During his emotional talk, he mentioned how he was stealing money from ESPN because he loved what he did. In other words, it is amazing that ESPN pays him to do something he is passionate about.
How about what he said about players having ‘chips on their shoulders’? ‘It breaks my heart, to see athletes with chips on their shoulder’. Said the man everyone knows as Dickie V.
“ARE YOU SERIOUS? Flying chartered planes, I don’t wanna hear about 80 games a year, what other job do you get 4 months vacation?” Vitale continued.
“ARE YOU SERIOUS?” Again shouted Vitale.
“Making millions! You’re gonna make 2-3 million if you can’t play!” he said.
He’s right, how many guys you see sitting on the bench in the NBA who can’t play for anything making big bucks? Players on scholarships in college, messing up off the floor!
When are we going to learn?
