The New York Times on players who get upset when they don’t get the ball.
If you’ve got a dominant player, let him be dominant,” Howard said late Tuesday night, after he was shut out of the Magic’s offense in the final minutes of a 92-88 loss to the Boston Celtics in their second-round playoff series.
It’s not all about scoring. Rebound, defend, pass the ball, be active by getting deflections, pull for your teammates, dive on the floor for the loose ball, set a screen…Too many plauers are being taught that it’s all about the bucket.
Last night’s game between the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers saw the Rockets tie things up and force a game 7 on Sunday. Louis Scola and Aaron Brooks led the way for Houston. It was refreshing to hear Brooks give credit to Scola for getting Houston off to a great start. Scola had 24 points at the end of three quarters. I love when players give their teammates credit. We need more of that. I believe it was Earvin Johnson who once said, “ask not what your teammates can do for you, but what you can do for your teammates.”

The Rockets-Lakers series is one of the best I have seen in a long time. Houston shares the ball and attacks the rim. What I’m impressed of is their ability to defend; especially with Yao Ming out. Carl Landry and Chuck Hayes are doing a great job. Brooks reminds me of Kevin Porter the way he pushes the ball in transition.
“Don’t whine and don’t get disgusted” said Phil Jackson during a late time-out.
Finally, how do the fans get seats right next to the coach on the sidelines? Wonder how much those tickets cost?
PLAY THE RIGHT WAY
