PLAY THE RIGHT WAY

MICKEY D ALL-AMERICAN

I’m not so sure it is as important as it use to be. I do know that it has nothing with your success after your senior season in high school.

Many players move on to become outstanding players after they have been named McDonald’s All-American.

I don’t even watch the game anymore.

Someone once said, “leave your name at the door and your game on the floor!”

Brandon Cotton is a former member of the McDonald’s All-American team. Mr. Parker of the Detroit News has a good piece on the player who left two programs in college and is trying to make it in the professional ranks.

“The desire burns in me because a lot of people don’t think I can make it now,” said Cotton, who graduated in May with a degree in liberal arts.

“You’re talking about a kid who was a McDonald’s All-American,” said George David, the Pistons director of player personnel. “He started off in good company, in terms of where he was.”
