PLAY THE RIGHT WAY

SHOES

I’m glad to see Nike involved in the talks about helping youth basketball in America. I think with their help things can get a whole lot better.

Like I said in solution # 2 – spread the wealth.  Don’t just single out the big time programs with the big time players.  There’s enough to go around.  Let everyone get a piece of the pie.

Here is solution #3 or maybe I should call it an ‘idea’?

The NCAA needs to allow their coaches to get out and interact with the youths (including high school players) They need to be able to put on clinics for players wanting to improve.  Can you imagine the coaching staff say at St. John’s University being able to show up at West 4th street playground in the Village and put on a Skill Development mini-camp?

It’s tough for a kid to cough up the big dough to attend a camp in the summer time.  How about the staff at Michigan State being in Lansing at the playground where Magic Johnson once played which sits empty today as we speak.

Imagine Coach K at Duke being able to spread his knowledge to 9th and 10th graders in June at a local high school?

It’s all about involvement!  It has nothing to do with playing too many games in the summer, going to different cities to play five games; it has everything to do with having the resources.  Dead periods, live periods, contact periods? It’s crazy!

I’m happy to see the Myles Brand and the NCAA step up and get involved.

PLAY THE RIGHT WAY!
